Zherpa LLC is a digital media company specialized on outdoor sports and lifestyle. Company’s mission is to change the way that small media houses around our beloved sports are build.

We like to say that we are a “virtual media house” that doesn’t try to adapt to changing media landscape, but rather be the one making the change happen. Yes, we love magazines, DVD’s and TV, but now those formats are dying declining fast and there is no reason to wait for a miracle that saves them.

So what is the future then? We don’t know for sure (no-one does), but we have some clues, that we use as our guidelines:

1. Everything is digital – Digital is direct. No need for news-stands or distribution agreements. We channel everything directly to the outdoor enthusiasts
2. No lock-ups, no agreements that tie you down. We don’t want bloggers, filmmakers, etc. to work with us because they have to, but rather because they want to. We bring them value and they bring value to us
3. Lets work hard to figure out how to make sustainable revenues and then share them. Only way to make this work is that advertisers, customers and users come back to us, again and again. Everyone has to get Return On their Investment, no matter if it is time or money
4. Content belongs to the creator. Our bloggers and contributors, who make great content, own it as well. We are here to help on publishing, distribution and monetization
5. Open-source: Whenever there is a open-source solution available, we use it. Also, if there is a possibility for API or other forms of letting others use information created on Zherpa and it makes sense to share, we’ll do it.
6. Sticking with outdoor sports. We know skiing, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, running, etc. so we stick with what we know. Zherpa will never expand outside of outdoor sector as we stick with what we know

Our first projects are:

• Zherpa News, that we have been running on Beta for a while as a test
• Zherpa Blogs, where you are now

These projects will occupy us over this winter and aim is that togethers these service: News, blogs and activity logs form quite an interesting platform that will give outdoor enthusiasts a daily reason to visit Zherpa
